Submissions open for Register of solar water heaters - Version 14
The Clean Energy Regulator regularly updates the Register of solar water heaters to update the list of solar water heater models eligible to have Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) created for them. Submissions will be accepted starting from 7 May 2011 to update the Register of solar water heaters.

Version 12 of the Register of solar water heaters is in effect from Friday 23 March 2012. You will be able to view and download a copy of the eligible list of solar water heater (SWH) models from the Register of Solar Water Heaters and Postcode Zones.

Changes to air source heat pump postcode zones and STC entitlements
The small-scale technology certificate (STC) methodology for determining the number of STCs for air source heat pumps has been updated. A fifth postcode zone has been established for air source heat pump water heaters (heat pumps) to better reflect the performance in cool climate and frost prone areas, for example Canberra and Hobart. The fifth postcode zone will apply from 1 November 2012. Download the draft postcode tables which will apply on or after 1 November 2012 (PDF 274 KB). The postcode zones for solar water heaters will not be changing.

Agent and Installers Workshops in May 2012
The Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) will be amalgamated into the Clean Energy Regulator on 2 April 2012. To mark this change there will be a series of workshops addressing: •Changes resulting from the amalgamation of the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator into the Clean Energy Regulator. •Update on the STC market including market trends. •Notification of common Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme administrative issues and how to address these issues. •How to ensure your company is complying with the Renewable Energy Electricity Act 2000 and supporting Regulations including information on common compliance issues and emerging trends. •Information about the ORER/Clean Energy Regulator inspection scheme including how to provide comments on draft inspection reports.

Waste coal mine gas (WCMG) eligible for LRET
Regulations have been passed to allow eligible waste coal mine gas (WCMG) power stations to apply for accreditation under the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET). The eligibility period is limited to 1 July 2012 – 31 December 2020. This reflects the Government’s policy to provide transitional assistance for existing waste coal mine gas fueled power stations that would be affected by the cessation of the NSW Greenhouse Gas Reduction Scheme on commencement of a carbon price.

Change of contact details - ORER and the establishment of the Clean Energy Regulator on 2 April 2012
From 2 April 2011 the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) will be amalgamated into the Clean Energy Regulator.?The administration of the Renewable Energy Target (RET), including the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET) and the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) will remain with the same staff body that is currently administering the schemes. If you are an organisation or business associated with the Renewable Energy Target, including the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target or the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, ORER advises that you ensure your website, forms and any other communications are updated from 2 April 2012 onwards to reflect this change.

ORER to be amalgamated into the Clean Energy Regulator
In November 2011 the Clean Energy Regulator Act 2011 was passed by Parliament. The Act establishes the Clean Energy Regulator as an independent FMA Agency. Under the Act, the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator will be amalgamated into the Clean Energy Regulator from 2 April 2012 onwards. The responsibilities of the Renewable Energy Regulator will also transfer to the statutory role of the Clean Energy Regulator.

Update to the non binding 2012 and 2013 STP estimate - December 2011
The non-binding Small-scale Technology Percentage (STP) published on 16 December 2011 under section 40B of the Act for: • 2012 is 23.95 percent (equivalent to 44.3* million Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) as a proportion of total estimated liable electricity for the 2012 year) • 2013 is 7.87 percent (equivalent to 15.07 million STCs as a proportion of total estimated liable electricity for the 2013 year)
