Change of contact details – ORER and the establishment of the Clean Energy Regulator on 2 April 2012
From 2 April 2011 the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) will be amalgamated into the Clean Energy Regulator. The administration of the Renewable Energy Target (RET), including the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET) and the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) will remain with the same staff body that is currently administering the schemes.
The Clean Energy Regulator will also administer and enforce:
- The Carbon Pricing Mechanism
- The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System
- The Carbon Farming Initiative.
If you are an organisation or business associated with the Renewable Energy Target, including the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target or the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, ORER advises that you ensure your website, forms and any other communications are updated from 2 April 2012 onwards to reflect this change.
Please see the below guidelines to assist you in updating your documentation. Please also make note of the new phone, website URL and email and communicate these to your staff.
Guidelines for updating documentation
- Any mention of ‘ORER’ or ‘the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator’ should be changed to ‘the Clean Energy Regulator’
- Any mention of ‘the Renewable Energy Regulator’ should be changed to ‘the Regulator’
- If a document or form is to be submitted to the Clean Energy Regulator, the document or form should be addressed to:

- New phone number: The new general Clean Energy Regulator phone number for all RET related enquiries will be: 1300 553 542
- New email: The email for all RET general enquiries will be: retscheme@cleanenergyregulator.gov.au
- Change in website URL: www.orer.gov.au will become http://ret.cleanenergyregulator.gov.au. The website will contain the same content but will be rebranded to reflect the change to the Clean Energy Regulator.
- The fax number for RET is still to be confirmed. ORER will circulate this number as soon as possible.
