What’s an SWH?

SWH is the term used in the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 referring to a "Solar Water Heater".  An SWH uses solar panels to heat water for domestic usage.

Air-source heat pumps are included in the definition of an SWH, although they use heat from the air to heat water.  Both are included in the renewable energy certificate schemes as they displace the use of electricity to heat the water.
