What’s the Federal Government rebate?
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme managed by the Clean Energy Regulator does not provide a rebate.
You may be eligible for a financial incentive by purchasing and installing an eligible solar water heater, heat pump, solar panel or small-scale wind or hydro system if your installation is eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs, previously called renewable energy certificates (RECs)).
These certificates can be assigned to a registered agent for an upfront discount or delayed cash payment or created in the REC Registry and traded. Please be aware that completion of any registration process on the Clean Energy Regulator website does not qualify you for any kind of financial recompense at the completion of the process.
There are state and Federal rebate schemes for renewable or sustainable systems - you can find some of them at the Living Greener site.
These include a solar water heater and heat pump rebate through the Energy Efficiency, Solar and Water Initiative. This rebate is addition to the financial benefit that you will receive for your certificates. For more information contact 1800 808 571.
