Fraud against and within the Clean Energy Regulator

Fraud reduces the effectiveness of the Government's policies and programs which assist Australian industry, and it is the responsibility of the the Clean Energy Regulator and its stakeholders to prevent program benefits and privileges from being misused.

Reporting fraud

Fraud against the Commonwealth is defined as:

'Dishonestly obtaining a benefit by deception or other means.'

The definition includes both tangible and intangible benefits.

The Clean Energy Regulator is determined to ensure that when fraud occurs, it is rapidly detected, effectively instigated, prosecuted appropriately and the proceeds of the fraud recovered.

Anonymous reporting

Reports can be made anonymously. The Clean Energy Regulator accepts reports that are anonymous; however, this will make it more difficult to validate the information provided to enable a proper assessment of the allegation.
